1. Submission Process
• The Editorial Board calls for submissions twice a year. However, submissions may be made all year round.
• Manuscripts should be submitted in .doc and .pdf through the journal manager's email: pup.jela@gmail.com.
2. Manuscript Preparation
2.1. General Requirements
• Language: Manuscripts must be written in English. Words and sentences that are not in English must bear English
translations and/or explanations for the international audience of the journal.
• Originality: Submissions must be original works not previously published or under consideration elsewhere. However, the
copyright remains with the author(s) and not solely controlled by the journal.
• Word Count: Articles should be between 7,000 and 8,000 words, including references, tables, and figures.
• Abstract: The abstract must contain 200-250 words summarizing the key points of the article.
• Keywords: Include 3-5 keywords to facilitate indexing and search.
2.2. Formatting:
• Template: Download the IMRD template provided above.
• Document Format: Submit manuscripts in Word Document and PDF formats (.doc, .docx, and .pdf).
• Font: Use 12-point (pt) Times New Roman font.
• Margins: Set one-inch margins (Normal) on all sides.
• Line Spacing: Use double spacing throughout the manuscript, excluding references.
• Page Numbers: Number all pages consecutively.
• Paragraphs: All beginning paragraphs of each (sub)section should not be indented.
Conversely, succeeding paragraphs within the (sub)section are indented.
2.3. Structure:
• Title Page: Include the title of the manuscript, authors' names, affiliations, and contact information for the corresponding author.
• Abstract: A concise summary of the research, including the goal(s)/aim(s)/purpose(s), method(s), result(s), and conclusion(s).
• Main Text: Organize the text into sections, including Introduction, Methodology, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion.
• References: Follow the APA 7th edition format for all citations and references.
• Tables and Figures: Include tables and figures within the text, numbered consecutively. Provide descriptive captions for each.
2.4. Citation Style:
• Follow APA 7th edition guidelines for in-text citations and the reference list.
• Ensure all references are cited in the text and vice versa.
3. Ethical Considerations
3.1. Authorship:
• Only individuals who have significantly contributed to the research and manuscript preparation should be listed as authors.
• Acknowledge contributions from others in the Acknowledgments section.
3.2. Plagiarism and Declaration of Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI):
• Manuscripts will be checked for plagiarism.
• Submissions with very high similarity index as determined by the university will not be forwarded for review
• Authors should declare their use of AI somewhere in the Methodology section. Use of AI should be limited to
checking of grammar, assistance in coding, and other AI assistance that does not result in the creation of the
90% of the research paper.
3.3. Ethical Approval:
• For research involving human participants, include a statement confirming that the study was approved
by an appropriate ethics committee or that you observed ethical practices in involving human participants
(e.g., seeking consent).
4. Review Process
4.1. Peer Review:
• All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process.
• Reviewers are selected based on their research interests related to the submission.
4.2. Decision:
• Authors will receive feedback and a publication decision within 4-8 weeks after submission.
• Decisions will be categorized as Accepted, Minor Revisions, Major Revisions, or Rejected.
4.3. Revisions:
• Authors must submit revised manuscripts within the timeframe specified by the editorial team.
• Include a detailed response to reviewers' comments.
5. Post-Acceptance
5.1. Proofs:
• Authors will receive page proofs for review and approval before publication.
• Corrections should be limited to typographical errors or minor adjustments.
5.2. Open Access:
• All the published papers are accessible online through the JELA website.
5.3. Copyright:
• Authors retain the copyright of their work.
5.4. Fees
• Submission and publication in the Journal of English Language Arts (JELA) is FREE of charge.
