The Journal of English Language Arts (JELA) is the official research journal of the Department of English, Foreign Language, and Linguistics (DEFLL) and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESED) of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. The journal publishes original papers in the broad areas of applied linguistics, English language studies, and literary and cultural studies.

Brief history: JELA started in 2015 with Prof. Emejidio C. Gepila, Jr. serving as its first editor-in-chief. It initially featured selected articles from the student and faculty researchers of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESED)-College of Education (COED) and Department of English, Foreign Languages, and Linguistics (DEFLL)-College of Arts and Letters (CAL) of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. From its humble beginnings in 2015, JELA is now a research journal that features research articles from scholars indifferent universities in the Philippines, Japan, Indonesia, and other parts of the world.
